The Citi Custom Cash credit card is one of my favorite credit cards in 2023. It doesn't matter if you are on team cash back or team travel rewards, the Citi Custom cash deserves a spot in your credit card line up.

With the Citi Custom Cash Card, you earn 5% cash back in your top spending category each month on up to $500 of spending, 1% cash back on all other spending on the card.
You can earn a $200 welcome bonus if you spend on purchases within the first 6 months of having the credit card.
There is a 0% Intro APR for 15 months on purchases and balance transfers.
- after the intro period a variable APR will be 18.49% - 28.49%, based on your creditworthiness.
- Balance transfers must be completed within 4 months of account opening.
You earn cash back as ThankYouPoints. You'll receive 5 points per $1 on purchases in your top spend category up to $500 per month, and 1 point per $1 on all other purchases.
Citi Custom Cash Categories
Earn 5% cash back on your top spending category each month on up to $500 in one of the following categories:
- Restaurants
- Gas stations
- Grocery stores
- Travel
- Transit
- Streaming services
- Drugstores
- Home improvement stores
- Fitness clubs
- Live entertainment
I imagine you are spending money in atleast one of these categories that you aren't currently earning 5% cash back. Choose the category where you spend the most and use your Citi Custom Cash credit card only on that category.
If you pair the Citi Custom Cash with the Citi Double cash, you will earn 5% cash back on your top spending category and unlimited 2% cash back on all other purchases.
If you pair the Citi Custom Cash with the Citi Premier credit card, you can also earn unlimited 3x points (3% cash back) on the following 4 categories: restaurants, supermarkets, gas stations, air travel and hotels.
Also ,with the Citi Premier, you can transfer your Thank You Rewards points from any Citibank card you have to Citi's travel partners potentially earning you higher value than the 5%, 3%, 2% or 1% cash back, depending on the travel deal you find.
